Introduction to the program

More than money

Welcome to ‘More than money’, Beyond Bank’s financial literacy program for students in years 5, 6 and 7.

The aim of the ‘More than money’ program is to teach students important life skills such as goal setting, working for an income, saving and budgeting. Over 4-5 weeks they will undertake jobs at home, at school or in the community to earn a fictional income which can be used to buy rewards at the end of the program (the rewards will be negotiated with the teacher at the beginning of the program).

The program is directly linked to the Mathematics and Humanities and Social Sciences / Economics and Business learning areas and is provided free to schools.

The program covers seven topics:

  1. Money
  2. Setting goals
  3. Income generation
  4. Budgeting
  5. Banking
  6. Taxation
  7. Rewards and reflection

For more information about each topic visit the About the ‘More than money’ program page in the Teachers section. As a parent or carer, you can also register to view all the teaching resources.

Your child might already be participating in the program, but if not, you may wish to let his/her teacher know about the program and this website.
